Dr. Carter chose a career in natural medicine because it represents a patient-centered, sustainable approach to healthcare. She truly enjoys spending time with her patients, getting to know their story, and creating a safe, supportive healing environment. At the heart of natural medicine is the idea that the body is capable of healing itself, and this principle guides all aspects of her care. Treatment focuses on the underlying cause of discomfort rather than chasing symptoms, and Dr. Carter enjoys empowering patients through health education and prevention. She believes the whole of a person is greater than the sum of the their parts, and that patient and doctor can work together in partnership to enhance the whole of life. She is excited to support and guide her patients to better, lasting health.
Dr. Carter is a graduate of Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA, where she completed her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and her Master's degree in Acupuncture. She is a licensed Naturopathic Physician and licensed Acupuncturist in the state of Washington.
During her studies at Bastyr, she took elective coursework in Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Massage, Homeopathy, 5 Element Acupuncture, and completed a clinical independent study course in Constitutional Acupuncture. Her clinical rotations included Physical Medicine, Homeopathy, Counseling, Integrative Cancer Care, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Constitutional Acupuncture, and serving low income populations at Puget Sound Neighborhood Health Clinic’s High Point Medical Center, Providence Mount St. Vincent, and the Lake Forest Park Senior Center. She has a special interest in adjunctive cancer care and emotional well being.
Dr. Carter lives in West Seattle with her two playful cats and delights in experimenting with all things culinary. She enjoys running, hiking, and soaking up the sunshine whenever it appears. She is grateful every day to see two beautiful mountain ranges and the ocean.
