I am a licensed massage therapist with training in intraoral and oncology massage work. I am a graduate of Cortiva Institute’s 1,000 hour extended massage therapy program; this training exposed me to a wide variety of modalities and ideas in massage. It has given me the confidence to work both gently and deeply in my practice. In addition I am also a reiki practitioner and martial artist. This awareness of energy and the body are invaluable to my massage and color my work.
I am a very curious person and remain open to the body’s wants and needs during my massage, following a line of tension to its end and exploring holding patterns to get to their roots. My massage has a treatment quality to it—this is what I am passionate about and how I think—and is also very relaxing. I do not believe massage should ever hurt and know gentle work can be profoundly effective.
I have taken intraoral training with Pat O’Rourke. This work is done with gloved hands inside the mouth and can be highly effective for jaw pain and tension. It addresses muscles and structures that are otherwise impossible to reach. I do this work with great respect for my client and am sensitive to the possible intensity of it. Another passion of mine is working with those touched by cancer. I have taken training with Tracy Walton on adapting massage for people in any stage of cancer treatment. I strongly believe that caring, educated touch has a positive influence on the body and can be especially valuable to someone living with cancer.
