Kim Newall is a full mesa carrier initiated into the shamanic medicine practices of the Indigenous peoples of Peru. She began her studies with Michael Harner and The Foundation for Shamanic Studies. She completed her initial apprenticeship with The Four Winds Society and Alberto Villoldo in 2002, and is currently completing the Healing the Light Body program. She graduated from both the Inka Initiation training and Mastery in Healing courses with Cuzco shaman Jose Luis Herrera in 2004. She completed her training as a practitioner with Cherokee shaman Mary Blankenship, graduating from her Wiracocha Institute Healing School and Post Graduate series in 2006. Kim traveled to Peru in 2004 and in October of 2009 to work directly with the Q'ero shamans in ceremony at the sacred sites in the Sacred Valley of Peru.
As a certified Dream Teacher through Robert Moss's School for Active Dreaming, Kim leads classes and workshops internationally in the practice of active dreaming for both adults and children.
The Process:
Shamanic methods use the elements of breath, plant essences, sound, stones and fire to facilitate healing. Healing is deepened through an active relationship with the natural world. Shamanic healing works well in tandem with psychotherapy: energetic shifts can be fast and profound, and the assistance of a qualified therapist can assist in the assimilation and management of life conditions shift profoundly towards healing.
The session begins with a conversation/tracking session between client and practitioner to identify the issue in need of healing. This session seeks to uncover the core wound in order to shift the dis-ease at its roots.
A treatment may include clearing and balancing of the chakras, scanning of the energy field to identify and remove dense energies, the removal of energetic attachments or intrusions detrimental to health.
A soul retrieval may be indicated when the client has lost an aspect of her/himself to a traumatic event. The practitioner journeys into the client's inner domains to negotiate the return of essential energy or "soul part", often in the form of a child.
